Portrait of Rudi Ekkart, former Director of RKD (Dutch Institute for Art History), oil on canvas (105 x 90 cm) 2012

On December 8th, 2012 Urban Larsson’s portrait of Rudi Ekkart was inaugurated and presented in the Augustijnenkerk, Dordrecht by Katlijne van der Stigchelen, Professor in Leuven, Belgium. The retiring and internationally renowned Prof. Dr. Ekkart has since 1990 been the director of the RKD (Netherland Institute for Art History). After the ceremony, the portrait was subsequently moved to Dordrecht Museum where it was exhibited as part of the international exhibition Portret in Portret (Portrait in Portrait). This exhibition (9 December 2012 - 7 April 2013), with portraits from the 15th century to present, has been organized in Ekkart’s honor.
