The painting Woman (Eve) is perhaps the first smiling Eve depicted in the history of art. She is shown alone while being expelled from Paradise, but she faintly smiles because she knows she has chosen knowledge instead of eternal life. Rather than being seen as the seducer and corrupter of Adam, Eve is portrayed as the woman who has given the gift of knowledge to mankind.
